The average hours per week are calculated by taking the total number of scheduled hours across all weeks in the rota and dividing that by the number of weeks.

Example

If an employee is scheduled to work 37.5 hours for 5 weeks and 22.5 hours for another 5 weeks, the calculation would be:

  • 5 weeks Γ— 37.5 hours = 187.5 hours

  • 5 weeks Γ— 22.5 hours = 112.5 hours

  • Total hours = 187.5 + 112.5 = 300 hours

  • Total weeks = 10

  • Average hours per week = 300 Γ· 10 = 30.0 hours

This gives an average of 30.0 hours per week.
