This error message could be related to an issue with the setup of the data source on the ODBC, or an error related to TLS, and will need to be reviewed with a member of your IT Team with access to the web server SelectHR is installed on.

The below steps are only applicable for on premise customers. Customers who are hosted by Access should raise a new case online and reference the title of this article.

What to check

Guidance

ODBC Data Sources

  1. Open Control Panel.

  2. Click System and Security, Administrative Tools.

  3. Open the ODBC Data Source application.

    1. Note: Select either 32 bit or 64 bit as applicable to your environment.

  4. Click on the System DSN tab.

  5. The SQL Server (using Driver SQL Server Native Client x.0) will likely be named database.

  6. Single click on the Driver SQL Server Native Client x.0 row.

  7. Click Configure.

  8. The server will be the SQL Server instance that the SelectHR database is installed on.

  9. Ensure the connection is set to use the With SQL Server authentication using a login ID and password entered by the user option.

  10. Enter the LoginID and Password.

    1. Note: The SelectAdmin credentials provided with your installation is recommended.

  11. Click Next, Finish.

  12. Click Test Data Source...

If the test results are displayed as TESTS COMPLETED SUCCESSFULLY!, then this connection is set up and functional.

At this stage, recycle the web application pool and try running the impacted crystal report again. If this still presents the same error, check the TLS settings.

TLS Settings

In order for crystal reports to successfully run, the web server in which SelectHR is installed will need to support TLS1.1.

Support are not able to advise you on how to check this, but Microsoft guides are available and your IT Team should be able to perform this check.

If Access assistance is required with checking the TLS configuration on the web server, this can be referred to our consultancy team to review with you, but please note that this will incur a charge.
