Request training workflow

Request training as a self service user

An employee can request training by follow the steps below.

  1. Click Training, then click Request Training.

  2. Enter the following details:

    • Reason for Need

    • Course Type

    • Requested Course

    • Required By

  3. Click Next.

  4. Select a future event to be booked onto if one is available, or select Create a Training Need.

    πŸ€“ Tips;

    • Only Courses with a future event record will be shown.

    • Users can not see events that do not have available spaces.

  5. Click Next.

  6. Enter any notes for the request in the Need Description field.

  7. Click Next.

  8. Click Finish to confirm.

The request is now completed from a self service perspective, and the request will now be sent to the employee's manager to approve.


Approving the request

Once the self service user has completed the training request, a task will be allocated to the employee's manager for approval by default. The manager can then log in to SelectHR and will be able to process the request from their task list.


Additional Details

You can specify a user or group who will action any training requests made in self-service by using the Workflow Approval Rules process.

By default, training requests are sent to the following:

  • Primary = Employees Manager

  • Fallback = HR Group

You can amend these if required by following these steps:

  1. Under Configuration, click Configuration.

  2. Click Workflow Approval Rules.

  3. Open the Training Approval Rule.

You can edit the recipient of the training requests from within this form by clicking on the Edit button.

For example, you can make sure all training requests go to the HR team instead of an employee's manager.
