With this article, we intend to help you smoothly transition from one year cycle to another, for example, from January-December to April-March, without impacting existing employees on the rule.

Follow the steps below in your test system, and once happy with the setup, do the same in your live system.
Firstly, ensure you have a new holiday rule for the new year, replicating the settings of the existing rule. We recommend naming this Holiday Transition.
Under the Absence lookup, click Holiday Year Types and create a new year type. We recommend naming this Transition Jan <year> to Mar <year>.
In the Absence lookup, click Holiday Years and create a year record for the year type.
Set the start date in January in the current holiday year and the end date in March of the following year. For example, Jan 2019 - Mar 2020 for the year 2019.
To amend the holiday year type configuration to the newly created year type, return to your holiday transition rule.
Repeat step 2. We recommend naming this Apr-Mar to make it clearly identifiable.
Repeat step 3. Ensure the start date is from April in the following holiday year, and the end date is March of the next year. For example, Mar 2020 - Apr 2021 for the year 2020.
To create year records for as many years as the new Holiday Rule requires, repeat step 7.
Create a new holiday rule for the following year, replicating the settings of the existing rule. Ensure you amend the holiday year type to the new following year time, for example, April - March.
Repeat step 9, instead of applying the new holiday rule for the following Holiday Year.
π€ Tip: There can only be one holiday history record per-year.
Then, you can assign this holiday rule in bulk.
