This error message is typically experienced because the user does not have access to a process they are trying to use, or because that process has been applied for them while they were still logged in.

The following are scenarios you may encounter that trigger this error message, alongside guidance on how to resolve the permissions error.

After assigning a new menu set to a user while they are still logged in

If you have recently assigned a new menu set to a user, they will be able to see the new menu set during their currently logged-in session.

However, for the system to identify that the user should have access to that menu set, they will need to refresh their logged-in session before they can use the menu set.

The impacted user should ensure they fully log out of SelectHR, and then log back in again. The menu set should no longer trigger the permissions error.

After assigning a new process to a menu set while the user is still logged in

Much as in section 1.1 of this article, if a user is logged in when a new process is allocated to one of their menu sets, the user will likely encounter a permissions error if they try to use this process.

To resolve this, the user should ensure they fully log out of SelectHR, and then log back in again, which should resolve the permissions error.

The dashboard link control links to a process that exists on a menu set the user does not have access to

This error can sometimes occur when a dashboard link control redirects the logged-in user to a process on a menu set that they do not have access to. Therefore, the user will need to be given access to this menu set.

Alternatively, the menu link will have to be amended to navigate to a process within a menu set that the user has access to.

This can be done by following these steps:

  1. Navigate to the HTML Dashboard – Content Manager process (located in the Configuration area of the HR v2.0 menu set).

  2. Select the relevant control from the listing (the name of which can be located by finding the name of the control through the Dashboards section of the Administrator Tool).

  3. Select the offending menu link.

  4. Untick the enabled checkbox, and save & return.

  5. Select new on the right-hand side.

  6. Choose the relevant menu item using the lookup list, ensuring the menu associated with that menu item is accessible by the user that requires access.

  7. Amend the alias and display order to customise the appearance and location of the link.

  8. Ensure the enabled checkbox is ticked, and save & return.

The user will now be able to use this link.

Force a soft refresh of the menu set

If you are still experiencing permissions issues after following the above steps, you may wish to force a soft reset of the menu set permissions.

This can be done via the Admin Tool by unassigning and reassigning the menu set to the user by following these steps:

  1. In the Admin Tool, click Users.

  2. Change the dropdown to All Users.

  3. Find the affected user in the list, and double-click on their record.

  4. Expand Menu Sets.

  5. Make a note of the menu set name and role filter, and then unassign the impacted menu set completely by removing the tick from the checkbox.

  6. Click OK.

  7. Now, double-click on their record again.

  8. Reassign the same menu set back to them once more, ensuring the menu set and role filter are the same as they were before.

  9. Click OK.

The user should now fully log out of SelectHR, and then log back in again. The issue should now be resolved.
