This article explains how to end a family leave record early in SelectHR. You may need to do this if an employee returns from maternity or paternity leave earlier than expected and the system does not allow changes to the existing end date.

Scenarios include:

  • Ending Maternity Leave early.

  • Ending Ordinary Leave early.

  • Ending Additional Leave early.

Ordinary leave

To amend the end date of the Ordinary Maternity or Paternity Leave, follow the steps belo.

  1. Under Absence, click Absence, then click Family Leave.

  2. Open the relevant Employee Record.

  3. Open the relevant Family Event record.

  4. Update the End Date of Leave field to reflect the new end date.

  5. Click Save.

If the employee has an Additional Leave record, this will be deleted when the Ordinary Leave is ended early. Employees cannot take Additional Leave unless the full term of their Ordinary Leave is completed.

Additional leave

To amend the end date of Additional Maternity Leave, follow the steps below.

  1. Under Absence, click Absence, then click Family Leave.

  2. Open the relevant employee record.

  3. Open the relevant Family Event record.

  4. Go to the Maternity Details tab.

  5. Click Amend Ordinary/Additional Leave.

  6. Ensure the Ordinary Leave Details remain accurate.

  7. Tick the Create Additional Leave checkbox.

  8. Change the End Date to the new end date for Additional Leave.

  9. Click Complete.

Curtailment Dates & Shared Parental Leave

If the employee is ending their Ordinary Leave early to share the remaining leave with their partner (i.e. Shared Parental Leave), you will need to enter a Curtailment Date.

  1. Under Absence, click Absence, then click Family Leave.

  2. Open the relevant employee record.

  3. Open the relevant Family Event record.

  4. Update the Curtailment Date field with the date Shared Parental Leave will begin.

  5. Click Save.

πŸ“Œ Note: Shared Parental Leave schedules in SelectHR do not get sent to SelectPay. However, the Curtailment Date will be submitted.
