Update the licence file or unlock key for AOI

Update the licence file or unlock file in AOI.

Use the steps below to update or renew an Access Office Integration (AOI) licence.

The process depends on the AOI version installed:

  • AOI v5.7 and later – Apply a licence file using AOI Registration.

  • AOI v5.1 to v5.6 – Apply an unlock key using AOI Registration.

  • AOI v4.x and earlier – Apply an unlock key using AOI Administrator.

Before you start, If you're unsure, check which version of AOI is installed.


Update a licence file (AOI v5.7 and later)

Complete these steps on each machine where AOI is installed.

  1. Open AOI Registration.

    📌 Note: If you're only renewing an existing licence, select Update Existing and continue from Step 2.

  2. Click Next.

  3. Click Browse.

  4. Select the licence file and click Open.

    📌 Note: When using Remote Desktop or a hosted environment, the licence file may be located in a folder named after your local computer or Windows profile.

  5. Click Import.

On-premise installation

  1. Select Connect to a Microsoft SQL Server (via ODBC Data Link).

  2. Select the required Datasource.

  3. Enter the SA username and password.

Hosted installation

  1. Select Connect to a Hosted Registration Service.

  2. In the HTTPS Server field, enter:

    • aoilive.accessacloud.com

    • Or your organisation's private hosting URL.

  3. Click Validate Connection. A green tick confirms the connection has been validated successfully.

  4. Click Next and review the registration details.

  5. Click Finish.

  6. Click Yes when prompted.

  7. Click OK.

⚠️ Important: If AOI is installed on a shared or terminal server, apply the licence file to each server where AOI is installed.


Licence import error

If you receive the following error when importing a licence file:

The following error occurred whilst importing the licence. The ObjectManager found an invalid number of fixups. This usually indicates a problem in the Formatter.

Check that all AOI users are running the same AOI version. Licence files may fail to import when different versions of AOI are in use.


Update an unlock key (AOI v5.1 to v5.6)

  1. Open AOI Registration.

  2. Select Add Registration Details.

  3. Click Next.

  4. Confirm the Reference number is correct (for example, DM1234).

  5. Confirm the Number of Users is correct.

  6. Replace the existing Unlock Key with the new key provided.

  7. Click Validate Unlock Key. A green tick indicates the key has been validated successfully. If a red cross appears, check the information entered and validate the key again.

  8. Click Next.

  9. Click Finish.

  10. Click OK.


Update an unlock key (AOI v4.x and earlier)

  1. Open AOI Administrator.

  2. Select Licensing.

  3. Confirm the licence details are correct.

    📌 Note: The user reference is usually displayed in the format DMXXXX/Number of Users.

  4. Click Connect to Licence Server.

  5. Replace the existing Unlock Key with the new key provided.

  6. Click Apply.

  7. Click OK.

  8. Click OK again to confirm the change.
