Change an employee's payroll number

Change the payroll number for an employee.

To change an employee's payroll number, follow these steps.

  1. In the Employees zone, click Employees, then Career History.

  2. Open the relevant employee record.

  3. Open the relevant appointment record.

    • If the employee has more than one appointment, click All Appointments to select the relevant appointment record.

  4. Remove the payroll name from the record and click Save.

    • The Payroll Number field will now become editable.

  5. Enter the desired payroll number and click Save.

  6. Re-enter the payroll name using the lookup and click Save.

⚠️ Important: Payroll Number is the linking field between several products integrated with SelectHR (e.g., SelectPay, Access PeoplePlanner).

You must ensure that the payroll number you change the record to contain does not overlap with another payroll number on the same payroll.
