If you see the following error recorded in the event log when opening an absence request link from an email: "Could not decrypt data. If version is pre-1.7, upgrade to 1.7 before continuing.", you can still approve the request in SelectHR by navigating to your Task List, provided you are the designated approver.
Why this happens
The link in the email can be damaged before it reaches you. This can happen when:
An email security tool scans or rewrites links in incoming email.
Part of the link is copied, or the email client breaks a long link across lines.
đ Note: This error isn't caused by an out-of-date version, so you don't need to upgrade SelectHR.
Approve the request from your Task List
Use these steps whenever the link in the email shows the error.
In the top right of SelectHR, click the task list icon.
Find the holiday request in the list.
Select the holiday request, then click Approve or Decline.
If the error still appears
Ask your IT team whether an email security tool changes links in incoming emails.
If you still can't approve the request from your Task List, raise a case with Access support.
